# How to Download Facebook Videos

## This article covers three ways to download a Facebook video for use in Nova Studio.

### Option 1: download the file via third-party website (2 mins)

We recommend using a downloader tool via a third-party website. **This tutorial walks through how to download a Facebook video using [fdown.net](https://fdown.net/).**

1. Copy the Facebook URL of your desired video
   
     1. *Having trouble finding the Facebook URL?*  See our [How to Copy Social Post URLs](https://help.novastudio.ai/copy-social-post-urls?hsLang=en) article for guidance on finding the URL of your Facebook video.
2. In a new browser tab, Navigate to [fdown.net](https://fdown.net/)
3. Paste the URL and click **Download**

4. Close any ads which appear
5. Click **Download in HD Quality** button

**Pro tip**: Ensure the URL is for the individual post and not the brand page

### Option 2: via the Inspect Window in Google Chrome (3 mins)

1. Right-click on the individual post page of the Facebook video and select **Inspect**

2. Toggle the mobile view setting to the desired device

3. Refresh the page

4. Press play on the video

5. Press "ctrl f" or (command f for mac) and type in "\<video"

6. Copy the link and paste it into your browser
7. Right click on the video and press "Save" to save the video to your device

**Tip:** The keyboard shortcut F12 also opens the Inspect element

### Option 3: via the Inspect Element in Google Chrome \[HD Video\] (3 mins)

**Note:** Only use this method for small video files

**Requirements:** a VPN may be required for geo-tagged posts, and logging in to Facebook may be required. 

**Procedure:**

1. Right click on the video and select **View page source**

2. Use **Ctrl+F** on Windows and **Command+F** on Mac to search for **quality\_hd![](https://help.novastudio.ai/hubfs/Screenshot%20(2173)-png.png)**
3. Copy the link next to **playable\_url\_quality\_hd** with **Ctrl+C** on Windows and **Command+C** on Mac![](https://help.novastudio.ai/hubfs/Screenshot%20(2172)-png.png)
4. Paste the link into the browser. Use **Ctrl+V** for Windows and **Command+V** for Mac![](https://help.novastudio.ai/hubfs/Screenshot%20(2176)-png.png)
5. Remove the 5  backslashes (**\\**) from the beginning of the link![](https://help.novastudio.ai/hubfs/Screenshot%20(2177)-png.png)
6. Press **Enter** to visit the link
7. **Download** the video from the three dots menu icon or right-click and select **Save video as**

**Warning:** The link will not work unless the backslashes are correctly removed

**Note:** Make sure to exclude the quotation marks when copying links
