DOOH & Vertical Social Card Template

What is digital out-of-home (DOOH)?

  • DOOH (digital out-of-home) is a form of media known as "outdoor" or "out-of-home" (OOH) advertising.
  • Unlike online and other device-based digital marketing, DOOH media is found on billboards, LED screens, and digital signage placed in high-traffic public spaces people already frequent outside of their homes.

  • Nova supports two DOOH workflows:
    • (1) Programmatic (VAST)
      • if the inventory accepts VAST tags and programmatic workflows, it is very similar to CTV or OLV executions on a technical level
    • (2) Custom (MP4) 
      • if the inventory/publisher is not VAST/programmatic-enabled, but accepts an MP4 upload, the MP4 may be downloaded from the UI. 

All of Nova's video templates (Showcase, Social, Custom Horizontal, Custom Vertical) are compatible with DOOH, however, the new Vertical Social Card  template is the only tall aspect ratio (9:16) template currently available.

🎬 What are DOOH Creative Specs? 

  • Video 9:16 aspect ratio - smaller duration recommended. File size must be under 100MB. Recommendations is to be as small as possible in terms of file size without compromising quality
  • Headline Character limit - 40 characters (can be more if no description is used)
  • Description Character Limit - 200 Characters
  • CTA button text: max 15 character.
  • Brand Logo: 1:1 aspect ratio (square). Must be good quality and minimum 1000pxX1000px

🛠️ How to build a DOOH creative in Nova UI?

  • Select Add DOOH (VAST) Creative to create a DOOH creative.

Note: the Vertical Social Card Template is not exclusive to DOOH - it is available with the other supported video types (CTV, OLV) as well.  

  • Select the Vertical Social option.

After selecting the template, building the video creative uses the same process as all other templates. 

 

🔗 How to obtain the VAST URL / ad tag? 

Click the VAST Tag button on the Edit Creative page, or the Ad Tag button on the Create Dashboard. 

 

  1. Select the appropriate DSP or Ad Server.
    Note: choose "Other" if your DSP or Ad Server is not listed.
  2. Select the desired VAST version in the VAST Ad Tag drop-down.
    Note: "VAST 4.0" is selected in the screenshot.
  3. Click the Copy to Clipboard button.

 

💾  How to obtain the MP4 file?

Click the VAST Tag button on the Edit Creative page, or the Ad Tag button on the Create Dashboard. 

Click on the Download MP4 button to initiate download of the MP4 video file.

✅  Which requirements apply to “Custom (MP4)” trafficking?

  • If the publisher accepts MP4 (but not VAST/programmatic), the MP4 can be downloaded from the UI.

  • Requirements:

    • Billing arrangement must be in place and pre-approved by a GTM leader.

    • Client must provide Ad Server/DSP impression reports by day and creative at least monthly (preferably daily) to external-reports@createwithnova.com and the CSM.

    • CSMs ensure these are in place before enabling DOOH permissions.

  • Note: Nova-supplied reporting is not available with this workflow.
